Sit Back, Be Comfortable and Relax
Most scans take 20-30 minutes as you lay comfortably, while more complex scans may take an hour.
To help you relax, you can select an immersive visual scene and music you prefer. Parents may accompany children when appropriate.
*For some conditions, a safe contrast dye may be injected into a vein to enhance visibility of the tissues being examined. It is normal to feel some warm or cool sensations during the injection. If you experience discomfort or have an allergic reaction, a physician will be available for immediate assistance.

Wear comfortable clothing without metal zippers, hooks, buttons or buckles. All metallic objects must be left outside the MRI room and a gown will be provided for you.
Arrive 30 minutes earlier to complete medical questionnaires.

What happens after the scan?
Exceptional Images Expertly Reported Without Delay
- You may leave immediately after the scan or wait for a copy of the images.
- A radiologist specialising in musculoskeletal imaging will examine the images and deliver a report to your doctor who will advise you on the results and the appropriate treatment you need.
- You will receive the images and a copy of the report to keep.
